But thanks to a new partnership between The Greenwich Hotel and East Hampton Point Resort you don’t have to choose.

The six night package splits your time evenly between both properties, giving you three days in the City and three out east. It begins at The Greenwich Hotel, Robert De Niro’s 88-room luxury property in Manhattan’s tony Tribeca neighborhood. There you’ll receive a superior room, breakfast for two (daily), Champagne and fruit upon arrival, two “Shibui Toner” spa treatments, and dinner for two in the private, outdoor garden of the critically acclaimed Locanda Verde. Then it’s off to the beach via a Hampton Luxury Liner, where you’ll be put up in one of East Hampton Point’s luxe bungalows. Breakfast comes delivered each morning, courtesy of Mary’s Marvelous in Amagansett, and dinner for two awaits at the resort’s restaurant. To get you through the middle of the day a picnic lunch at Georgica Beach, East Hampton’s prime summer locale, has been arranged (car service to the beach, or passes for those with their own vehicles is also provided). The resort can also schedule tee times, book a private shopper or place a preferred dinner reservation. Now when you’re asked if you’re staying in the City or going to the Hamptons the correct response is, “yes.”

They even managed to replicate the clear plexi iPad display bases used in Apple stores.

Unfortunately you will have to be a KLM frequent flyer with club access or fly on a business or first class ticket in order to touch these, but I think we all know that a table of 8 iPads would just not work in a general boarding area with hundreds of people. So…what airline lounge is next?

Needless to say, Aer recently scored a spot on ABC News Travel’s list of the “World’s Best Rooftop Bars.” The views may be sensational, but the “dining is equally as inspiring,” claims the hotel’s official website, “with the emphasis on shared plates featuring an innovative selection of hot and cold Lebanese and Middle Eastern dips, Mediterranean tapas and other international favorites.” Order up a personalized cocktail- perhaps a blend of fresh fruit and Champagne- while sampling some midnight mezzes. A live DJ plays nightly sets in this open-air bar. Evening happy hour (running from 5:30 pm- 8 pm every evening) means half-price Champagne cocktails and Champagne.

Taking its name from the Lilliputian avenue that runs parallel to Grand Central Terminal-along the Roosevelt’s backside-Vander Bar makes a serious play for the mid-town clientele who frequent both of these New York City institutions. Whereas Mad46 is meant to compete with stylish downtown al fresco drinking options like those found at the Hudson or Thompson hotels, Vander Bar aims more for the local happy hour crowd, where Hermès ties become loosened before the Metro-North train ride back to Westchester. Offering a fully stocked bar, along with beers on-tap, the property’s small-plates menu of contemporary favorites, such as burger sliders, lobster rolls, and mac and cheese, should provide ample ways to spoil dinner. Of course these days a bar is only as good as its signature drinks, and Vander Bar gives a knowing wink to the neighborhood with a Belvedere black raspberry vodka and lime juice concoction, known as “The BlackBerry.”

The roof garden features lounge seating amidst seasonal florals, ranging from brilliant purple Salvia East Frieslands to pink, yellow and orange Lantana. There are lovely box trees that are framed by rows of English dwarf lavenders. Located on the Penthouse level of the hotel, the rooftop garden is available seasonally and exclusively to hotel guests.

The 2,200 square foot terrace is a serene escape and can only be compared to a penthouse terrace found on the top of some of the most exclusive apartment buildings in Manhattan. The roof was completely resurfaced, and features Ipe Brazilian decking and trellises, with ivy and box trees growing throughout the garden. It was designed by Lauren Rottet, the renowned interior and architectural designer who spearheaded The Surrey’s recent renovation.

The garden is open daily from 7:00 am to 11:00 pm, and offers butler service for beverages and light means, enabling guests to dine any time of the day, including breakfast, lunch and dinner. Featured menu items range from the Smoked Salmon Club to the New York Strip Steak Frites. The terrace has bar service with its signature cocktail being the “Muddled Lemonade”—a combination of fresh herbs, fruits and spices mixed with home-made lemonade (available with or without alcohol). The menu also features classic cocktails such as the “Dark and Stormy”. “Moscow Mule” and innovative concoctions including the “Blackberry Mint Margarita” and the “76th Street”, which is made with fresh lime, club soda, orange bitters and Patron Silver.

Guests and selected members of the neighborhood will be invited to themed evening festivities, such as the Backgammon night and Pimm’s night, as well as wine tastings and book readings.

The terrace is a wonderful addition to The Surrey, which recently reopened after a $60 million-plus complete renovation. The hotel, which is located in one of Manhattan’s most exclusive of neighborhoods, is a black, white, cream and sepia space, which melds traditional sophistication with a modern edge. Its high ceilings and archways, limestone walls and marble floors evoke the ambiance of a grand residential townhouse. There’s also a private suite that is available for that is for private functions that rents for $5,000 a night. The suite, which is 1,100 square feet, has a private outdoor terrace, kitchen and wet bar.

The Surrey features 190 well-appointed salons, including 30 one-bedroom suites, a Penthouse and a Presidential Suite, ranging from 350 to 2,127 square feet in size. The hotel is now the destination of choice for well-heeled visitors to New York, ranging from tourists and business travelers to those who are visiting relatives who live in the area.

The Surrey offers a complete luxury experience for hotel guests and Manhattanites alike with its beautiful day spa, “Spa at the Surrey” that is complete with luxurious private therapy rooms as well as a range of customized spa treatments. There’s also a world-class restaurant, Cafe Boulud, which is operated by celebrity chef, Daniel Boulud, offers a contemporary approach to classic French cuisine. Boulud also operates Bar Pleiades, located on the lobby level of the Surrey, an Art Deco-inspired lounge that is quickly becoming the destination of choice for the residents of the Upper East Side.

The hotel’s impressive art collection is also worth checking out. Curated by Rottet, it includes 31 original contemporary works by notable artists such as Chuck Close and Helen Amy Murray, dispersed throughout the private and public spaces. The collection pays homage to the hotel’s impressive Upper East Side location just steps from the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the other well-known institutions that make up Museum Mile.

The Surrey Hotel is located at 20 East 76th Street, between Fifth Avenue and Madison Avenue.

There was a bar up there before (called The Trafalgar Roof Garden), but this one sounds pretty special – it was designed by the same people who did Whisky Mist (the superswanky, favorite-of-the-royals-and-their-hangers-on at the Hilton Park Lane) and the roof has been completely revamped to maximize the views and bring in a “relaxed atmosphere of Mediterranean chic”.

Talking of Mediterranean, the menu includes things like stuffed baby pepper with halloumi and herbs, platters of antipasti and a watermelon, tarragon and feta salad, while there will also be a cocktail menu of drinks made with English fruit and herbs grown on the roof.

The catch? There’s a £5 cover charge. Not good, but seeing as cocktails start at £10, it could be worse. Plus, at least this way, you should get a seat, no?

We already know that overpriced drinks are a lot easier to swallow when perched on a hotel rooftop bar high above the city. But you know what’s also pretty delish from upon high? Tacos. So we’re totally into the new Tacos & Tequila night at 60 Thompson’s A60. Especially since it’s on a Monday.

Also? You don’t have to be a hotel guest or A60 member to get your Rooftop Mex on—you just have to rock up early. Non-members are welcome ‘when space permits’, so we recommend hitting up the bar as soon as the taco stand opens at 5 p.m.

There are three varieties on the menu, including grilled coriander chicken, flank steak a la plancha and sautéed shrimp in salsa verde, all priced between $10–$14 (there are 3 tacos per order). You can also order chips with salsa or guacamole ($6–$8) and caramel flan with shredded coconut ($5).

Since all of these snacks demand a little (or a lot of) tequila on the side, the drink specials on Monday nights include a T&T Margarita and Ruby Red Chili (Svedka vodka, limoncello, muddled grapefruit and chili) for $10 each, and shots of Cabo Wabo tequila for $7.

If you plan to stay awhile, you may prefer a pitcher of passionfruit margarita or white sangria spiked with tequila and fruit—there are five drinks in a pitcher for $45.

We never thought you’d hear us say this, but … Uh, is it Monday yet?

Fairmont MYK – Impeccable Service, Great staff – Love this Property!

On the Riviera Maya, the Fairmont Mayakoba hotel offers an ideal tropical escape. Just steps from the ocean, our luxurious Riviera Maya resort features gracious service and all the excitement of the region. Plan your stay at the official website of the Fairmont Mayakoba.

The Riviera Maya is located in Mexico on the Yucatan Peninsula in the State of Quintana Roo and nests alongside the Caribbean Sea. Situated in the heart of the Riviera Maya, Fairmont Mayakoba is approximately 42 miles or 70 km south of Cancun, within the Mayakoba resort development; a secure, 240-acre gated community surrounded by canals, shoreline and mangrove forests, which is only accesible via one main entrance point.

The mysticism and magic of an ancient culture is still present. Serene sunlight flickers and dances on emerald lagoon waters, and the rolling surf of the Caribbean washes the shore creating a natural symphony of sound and smell.

Fairmont Mayakoba Riviera Maya’s Mexican home is a unique mixture of interwoven cultures. While the host of free spirits and roamers that have long been attracted to this glorious peninsula have lent to the relaxed local culture a European style and flair for gracious living, travelers can bask in perfect solitude on uninhabited beaches, explore eco-parks or enjoy nearby Playa del Carmen’s exuberant nightlife.

Many come to experience Cozumel -one of the world’s premier diving and snorkeling destinations first made famous by famed French marine pioneer Jacques Cousteau- where the warm currents and coral reefs support a breathtaking pantheon of marine life. Others come to explore Chichén Itzá, one of the world’s new seven wonders, and experience the fascinating world of the Mayans, whose mythology, science and culture can still be felt today. Most want a taste of it all: the delicate jungle, the alabaster white sand beaches, the crystal clear turquoise water, the fine cuisine and the spectacular nightlife!

Signature Casita

The design and décor of these suites reflect the depth and richness of the surrounding area’s culture. A Signature Casita Suite is distinguished by its high ceilings and wrap-around balcony for a panorama across lagoons and canals. Appointed with a spacious and elegant master bedroom, a separate living room with sofa bed, these suites provide ample living space.

A luxurious four-piece marble bathroom includes a soaker tub and private glassed shower stall. A second bathroom is incorporated next to the living room, and thoughtfully includes a shower stall. Each suite is equipped with individually-controlled air conditioning, a 32” LCD television, Bose wave radio and CD player, as well as three dual- line telephones with voicemail, for instant communication.

Bed: One King or two Queen beds
Size: King – 915 sq. ft. / Queen – 1,033 sq. ft.
View: Lagoon and meandering water canals

Restaurants

Between sunrise over the Caribbean and a night sky filled with the same brilliant stars that inspired the Mayans, you have plenty of time to savor the fare at one of four exceptional restaurants at the Fairmont Mayakoba, Riviera Maya, Mexico. Wake up to an energizing breakfast and unwind with a poolside lunch; regroup with cocktails at sunset and wind up with some very sweet endings.

In such an idyllic place, personal gatherings and events take on an unforgettable magic. Whether in the lavish Ballroom – opening to a water and sun filled courtyard – or at unique well-appointed breakout rooms, Fairmont Mayakoba, Cancun promises an occasion to surpass all dining expectations.

Sustainable menus

Fairmont Mayakoba has made a commitment to the environment and to sourcing local, organic and sustainable items wherever possible. As such, we are committed to offering sustainable seafood choices on our menus at our Riviera Maya restaurants.

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts have continually aligned with reputable seafood watch organizations, and use them as a guide when choosing the fish to be offered on hotel menus. At The Fairmont Mayakoba, we work with Ocean Leader S.A., which purchases Caribbean lobster (Panulirus argus) from the Punta Allen co-operative, within the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve. This co-operative applies special techniques to capture the lobster in a sustainable manner, thus being able to maintain and even increase the lobster population in the area. Thanks to this innovative method where young and female lobsters are spared, this kind of fishing is scientifically qualified as sustainable. Through the purchase of sustainable lobster, Fairmont Mayakoba supports the economic development of the local communities within the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve and offers its guests the best fish and seafood options in the region.

Additionally, Fairmont Mayakoba ensures that its seafood vendors comply with all legal requirements, by asking them for all pertinent permits and refraining from the purchase of products that are seasonally banned.

At Fairmont Mayakoba, we have identified the optimal choices for this region as the Mero (i.e. Grouper), the Huachinango (i.e. Red Snapper) and the Boquinete (i.e. Caribbean Reef Snapper), and proudly serve them on our menu.

Cooking classes

Fairmont Mayakoba Riviera Maya offers guests, both children and adults, who enjoy cooking and want to give their stay a different “taste,” the opportunity to prepare unique recipes with the guidance of the hotel’s Executive Chef David Andrews. Additionally, those who take cooking lessons will be able to take a tour through the hotel’s main kitchen, where they will become familiar with the highest food and beverage standards that characterize Fairmont Mayakoba’s AAA Four Diamond award-winning restaurants. They will learn everything from how to wash their hands, handle foods, cut, cook, to how to serve properly. Furthermore, guests will receive chef hats, apron and gloves to wear and make them feel like true culinary professionals! So much FUN!

El Cameleon

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts manages the neighboring 18-hole El Camaleón designed by Greg Norman, site of the only official PGA TOUR event held outside US or Canada, the Mayakoba Golf Classic

El Camaleón was developed with all levels of players in mind, offering unique hazards and challenging greens along with a practice and learning facility and a minimum of five tee blocks on each and every hole. Rightly named for its diverse layout and ever-changing landscape, which bends through tropical jungles, dense mangroves and oceanfront stretches of sand, this masterpiece designed by golf legend Greg Norman serves as the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable golf vacation!

Located in the heart of a tropical jungle on the area’s natural lagoons, lies an amazing back drop for a mystical spa journey reminiscent of the textures, colors and scents of the ancient Mayan culture.

There are places to rest and reflect close to the elements the Mayans used hundreds of years ago to erect their monuments and temples. They used Conchera, a fossil stone, Sascab as their mortar, natural green marble from Guatemala and the magnificent wood of the Zapote tree. You’ll find the same elements incorporated throughout the spa.

The Riviera Maya forest provides private canopies for the treatment rooms, overlooking the treetops of the mangrove forest. The romantic spa suite is a breathtaking opportunity to spend time with your loved one with side-by-side treatments. The men’s and ladies’ locker areas feature beautiful Mexican gardens with outdoor Swiss showers and whirlpools. On the rooftop, ease your muscles with the healing waters of the signature vitality pool, or find energy in the sea-mineral soaking pool.

You’ll find unique treatments and experiences based on local tradition and flora, ranging from Willow Stream signature experiences to uniquely Mayan traditions featuring local herbs, essential oils, and extracts. One of the most popular is the Cha Chac Rain Ritual, based on the Mayan rain ritual. There is also the amazing Yucatan Healing Retreat, which you get to share with a special friend. For chocolate lovers, discover Cacao with The Food of the Gods Body Nourisher. Whichever you choose, the healing touches of our Willow Stream experience providers will guide you to renewing your energy. FYI -Try the Honey in the Heart or the Chocolate food of the Gods Treatment!!

Find inspiration at every turn. Find your energy.
