Anguilla’s golf course will be open for play

Golfers will be excited to learn that Anguilla’s golf course will be open for play in just a week. On December 19, 2009 Cap Juluca will proudly reopen and manage Anguilla’s first and only public golf course, a $50 million creation of Greg Norman, the Temenos Golf Course.

“We are all very excited about being able to offer such an elevated level of Caribbean golf to our guests at Cap Juluca and all the residents of and visitors to Anguilla,” reports Cap Juluca General Manager Gary Thulander. “We’re especially thrilled that the course will be open in time for the holiday season, offering visitors to Anguilla a complete vacation experience.”

This 7,063-yard championship course was designed by golf legend Greg Norman and first opened in 2006. It offers dramatic elevation changes, water features on 13 holes and, with the help of Cap Juluca’s brand of hospitality this season, one of the finest golf experiences in the Caribbean.

Temenos Golf Course offers a golfing experience where sand, wind and water blend seamlessly with Anguilla’s natural environment to present a golfer’s paradise. Some of its signature holes include:

Players being greeted by a spectacular vista of St. Maarten and the Caribbean Sea at the tee box of the 390-yard starting hole. The fairway descends over 40-feet to a narrow, two-tiered green sitting precariously on the edge of a saltwater lagoon. Robb Report called this first hole, “The Caribbean’s answer to the 18th at Pebble Beach.”

Large sand dunes on the left and a saltwater pond on the right framing the perilous drive on the 440-yard 16th hole that plays dead into the trade winds and ends with an elevated green surrounded by water and protected by deep bunkers.

The drive for the finishing hole carrying the edge of the mangrove thicket in a vast stretch of saltmarsh that winds through eight of the course holes. The narrowing fairway ascends forty feet through rugged terrain to a narrow green carved out of the native shrub.

Accommodations

Musha’s five guest houses are designed in a charming tropical style.  All master suites boast magnificent four-poster beds and ensuite his- and her-bathrooms, and all of the houses are surrounded by mahogany, wrap-around decks. All have their own, private beach.  David Copperfield is continuously enhancing the accommodations with collected antiques and exotic treasures from around the world.

Location

- Destination for commercial or private jets:  Georgetown Airport on the island of Great Exuma has an 8000 ft. runway.
- Commercial non-stop service from Miami, Ft. Lauderdale and Nassau to Georgetown GGT/Great Exuma Bahamas.
- Transfer from Great Exuma to Copperfield Bay:  Guests may fly or take a boat.  Our staff will arrange for a Super Twin Otter Amphibian Aircraft configured for 16 passengers, with two pilots.  Flight time 15 minutes.
- The Super Twin Otter is also available for charter from Miami, Ft. Lauderdale and Nassau direct to Copperfield Bay.
- By Boat:  If guests prefer to arrive at Copperfield Bay by one of our watercraft options, our staff will arrange for transportation from the airport to a dock on Great Exuma, for the boat transfer.  Travel time is about one hour from Great Exuma.
- Copperfield Bay can accommodate yachts up to 200 ft. in length, with its protected anchorage facilities and excellent deep water docking.

Can every taste be worth remembering? The chef who presides over our kitchen can make it so. Pair course after course with the finest vintage from our extensive wine cellar. Savor the freshest seafood, most elegantly prepared, straight from Copperfield Bay’s shores and waters. Enjoy our spectacular new 2,200 sq. ft. Activities

Water
There’s plenty to do on Musha… and plenty of beautiful places where you can do nothing at all. For the nothingminded, try one of our 40 perfect beaches on any of our 11 private islands. The sand is fine as sugar and almost as white. Sit back and summon your favorite elixir from the beach bar. Save your energy for the day’s most important decision: a swim off your own private beach, or a swim in the beachside freshwater pool. For the more active, explore the sea from our new jet boat, catamaran, sailboat, waverunner, windsurfer or Sea Doos. Explore undersea as well. The pristine coral reef is a haven for snorkelers and divers. And a rare confluence of tides makes Musha’s waters heaven for fishermen – even beginners. Our evolving fleet includes a brand new 37 foot Midnight express and a 28 foot amphibious catamaran – you can walk right off the boat onto the beach.
Land
Enjoy your favorite movies at Dave’s Drive-in: a state-of-the-art outdoor theatre with a giant 2-story silver screen, right on Coconut Beach.

Musha offers a lighted championship tennis court with a thatched roof gazebo for relaxing between sets.
