About the 2010 World Cup South Africa

The American Music Awards show is one of several major American music awards shows. It was created by Dick Clark in 1973 to compete with the Grammys. Michael Jackson and Donny Osmond co-hosted the first show. Differing from the Grammy’s, the AMA’s are determined by a poll of music buyers. This year the American Music Awards will be at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles on November 22.

About the New York City Wine & Food Festival

The second annual Food Network New York City Wine & Food Festival presented by Food & Wine and Travel + Leisure magazines takes place October 8-11, 2009 and once again is hosted by and benefits the Food Bank For New York City and Share Our Strength. Building on the success of the inaugural event held the same weekend in 2008, the 2009 Festival is set to turn up the heat in New York City this Columbus Day weekend.

The Food Network New York City Wine & Food Festival presented by Food & Wine and Travel + Leisure magazines began as a one night event, SWEET, in the fall of 2007. In 2008, Festival Founder and Director Lee Brian Schrager of Southern Wine & Spirits of America, launched the inaugural Food Network New York City Wine & Food Festival on Columbus Day weekend making SWEET the centerpiece of the Festival. The first annual Festival consisted of over 80 events held throughout the Meatpacking District and beyond. Celebrating music through the Grammy Awards for more than 50 years, The Recording Academy continues its rich legacy and ongoing growth as the premier outlet for honoring achievements in the recording arts and supporting the music community.

The Grammys are the only peer-presented award to honor artistic achievement, technical proficiency and overall excellence in the recording industry, without regard to album sales or chart position. Organizers of the 52nd annual Grammy Awards show in Los Angeles say they have set the date for the 2010 prize presentation. The event billed as “music’s biggest night” is to take place Jan. 31 at the Staples Center. It is to air live on the CBS Television Network. This year’s show took place Feb. 8. To accommodate an earlier air date, the eligibility year for the 52nd annual event will be shortened by one month — Oct. 1, 2008, through Aug. 31, 2009. The date for the Grammy nominations announcement is expected to be scheduled soon.

Since its inception in 1929, The Academy Awards has become the event of the year for film followers worldwide. A celebration of all things cinematic, the presentation of the iconic gold Oscar statuettes to members of the film community for excellence during the year represents the highest honor in filmmaking. The Oscars is one of the only awards ceremonies that have never been cancelled.

The 2010 ceremony will again take place at the Kodak Theater at Hollywood and Highland Center in Hollywood, and will be televised live by the ABC Television Network.

In 2010, watch for 10 major Hollywood films to be nominated for best picture, this in a clever move by the Academy to further popularize the Oscars with a wider audience.The inclusion of major blockbusters (such as last year’s Wall-E or The Dark Knight – NOT nominated for best picture) may definitely up the ante for reviewers busy compiling their Top 10 contenders (up from 5).

Meanwhile, expect the full official roster of nominees to be announced on February 2, 2010 — along with updates on the latest buzz, rumors and Tinsel Town gossip as awards night draws near. Although nominees won’t be officially announced until February, watch for lots of news on the latest crop of Hollywood hits that will continue to generate buzz throughout the entire awards season.
