Location

Guests arriving at Phuket International Airport are greeted and transferred via the resort’s own airport transfer service. It is an easy and scenic, 55-minute drive from Phuket International Airport to Evason Phuket. Guests departing from Six Senses Destination Spa Phuket to Evason Phuket have a seven-minute powerboat trip from Naka Yai Island to Ao Po Pier, then a 50-minute drive to Evason Phuket.

Accommodations

Guest Rooms, Suites and Pool Villas feature a fresh and unconventional design; one entirely new for Phuket. Dispersed amongst five low rise buildings in a lush tropical garden setting, there are a total of 260 accommodations consisting of guest rooms, suites and pool villas, including a honeymoon villa at Bon Island. Most rooms have bright, open-style bathrooms so as to create more space and light and all have a private balcony. A totally new approach to materials, finishes and colours contributes to a refreshing new holiday experience. Most guest rooms are facing the sea with the remainder offering bay views along the coastline. All rooms have either king or twin beds with light and comfortable duvets rather than traditional blankets, most with an open-style bathroom and all with private balconies. Most room have a large daybed designed as a sitting area during the day and easily made up as a third bed at night.

The Evason Deluxe Rooms feature a unique design with a large king-size bed placed in the middle of the room in front of an open island-style bathroom featuring separate shower and bathtub, plus double vanity basins.

Dining

There are several dining alternatives that face the Andaman Sea and serve Asian, Western and Thai cuisine. Highlighting the variety is Into the Med, a fine-dining experience where you can enjoy regional Mediterranean-influenced cuisine. There is a choice of bars and lounges and a wine cellar stocked with both New and Old world wines.

Cambodia In Depth

Unforgettable: As you pause to admire the intricate carvings on a temple’s cracked wall, a stone carver engaged in restoration work beckons you over to compare his efforts to that of his 12th century predecessor

Day 1 Phnom Penh: get a feel for Cambodia’s unique art and architecture through visits to the National Museum, Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda—so named for its floor paved in real silver tiles; come face-to-face with some of the millions of Cambodians who died at the hands of the Khmer Rouge in a former torture center, thereby gaining some understanding of these people’s courage and resilience;

Day 2 Udong: drive past fields and stilt-houses to Udong, a forgotten outpost that served as Cambodia’s capital from the 17th through mid-19th centuries; explore this sleepy town’s Buddhist stupas and shrines; pay a sobering visit to the “killing fields”—an area where thousands of the Khmer Rouge’s victims were murdered and buried;

Day 3 In and around Phnom Penh: undo your belt a few notches at the Sunday Food Fair, a vibrant rural market where vendors sell scrumptious local snacks and fruit; sit with women in a traditional weaving village as they explain their age-old techniques; dine on the banks of the Mekong, where old French villas evoke images of long-gone colonial traders sipping sundowners beneath slow-moving ceiling fans;

Day 4 Temple tour: travel by car and boat to view the sixth century temple of Phnom Da, believed to have been erected on the site of Cambodia’s first capital; climb two-hundred steps to reach the bombed temple of Phnom Chisor, its intricate bas-relief sculptures now scattered across two square km;

Day 5 Angkor Wat: (flight Phnom Penh-Siem Riep) begin your exploration of the temples of Angkor, about one hundred of which remain scattered throughout the jungle; find yourself staring into the forbidding stone faces that adorn the fifty towers of Angkor Thom, built by Angkor’s greatest king, the 12th century Jayavarman VII; climb Mount Bakheng to see Angkor Wat’s tiered towers silhouetted against the setting sun;

Day 6 Outlying temples: make your way through crumbling passageways and over the twisted roots of the banyan trees that are slowly strangling the hauntingly beautiful temple of Ta Prohm; stroll across the courtyard of the late 12th century Preah Neak Pean temple, imagining its elaborately carved pools filled with water for the purification rituals that once occurred here;

Day 7 Trekking: rest near a reclining Buddha that lies at the summit of a sacred mountain; trek through old-growth forest to a revered stream, its limestone banks carved with linga fertility symbols, then picnic beside a jungle waterfall;

Day 8 Temples & boating: step from the jungle to discover a temple guarded by strange statues of mythical creatures; take a boat trip to the region’s floating villages, where everything from clinics to schools are on water;

Day 9 Departure: relax in Siem Riep’s quaint cafes, bistros and art galleries until it’s time to fly out

About Istanbul

Everyone needs to see Turkey at least once: it’s Europe, it’s Asia, it’s intoxicatingly exotic and -considering all the sultan palaces around – geared for opulent comforts. Best is Istanbul, where wandering past spice shops in backlanes or under the minarets of 1500-year old mosques is like hitting a travel “refresh” button that gets even those who think they’ve seen it all wide-eyed. Many of the best hotels and sights (the famed bazaar) cluster in the more touristy Sultanahmet. But you have to cross the Golden Horn Bay to hilly Beyoglu to find where Istanbul parties. Start by walking downhill from Taksim Square on the mile-long pedestrian strip Istiklal Street, where jaw-dropping numbers of locals in headscarves or Armani stop into festive fish restaurants and alley bars and clubs (such as Babylon and Roxy). Rejuvenate yourself in steamy “Turkish baths” that date centuries, then sleep like a sultan, literally,in luxurious hotels throughout Istanbul, such as Çiragan Palace – a one-time sultan residence on the Bosphorus River. Much of Turkey’s finest sights are a quick flight away. Start with Bodrum, a lush seaside port bougainvillea-covered villas that looks something like a French Riviera town on the Aegean. Here you’ll find the tomb of the Persian king Mausolus, whose resting place “Mausoleum” is one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World – and the name behind fancy resting places worldwide. The top draw, however, is taking a day- or week-long private cruise to nearby coves, pebble beaches and fishing villages on motorized gulet boats. Trips are easily arranged and come with a captain and a cook who prepare fresh seafood as you laze on teak decks or in the air-conditioned cabins. Back on land, find your way to some of the Mediterranean’s best preserved ancient cities. The most popular is Ephesus, half way between Istanbul and Bodrum, where you can wander the 2000-year-old site, with ancient amphitheaters, libraries and rows of stone toilets – ! – still in tact. Past worlds meet seemingly alien worlds at Cappadocia, a couple hours inland by air. The mountainous region – a refuge of persecuted Christians 1800 years ago -is a lunar-like landscape of volcanic “cave” churches and homes that stand like phallic mushroom-topped outcrops of rock.

Transportation

Getting around Istanbul and Turkey can be tricky. Whether it’s the tons of traffic in the bustling city of Istanbul or the winding mountainous roads of Turkbuku, driving is difficult.
